Welcome Survivors to our Official AFTERSHOCK Status Report for the 7TH of JUNE 2019, we will be doing these status reports once every two weeks. This gives us enough time to gather stuff to report on.
Hope you Enjoy!
Dev Update [Sam]
Hey there everyone!
I have some new things to share with you in this week’s Development Log.
Introducing two new sidearms:
THE HAND CANNON
The Hand Cannon is a modified Desert Eagle which adds a top and bottom rail which allows for different attachments while also giving the Desert Eagle more power to each shot. It's a very rare gun to come across and can only be found in High End Military Zones or from Traders if you have enough Reputation (More info on that later on).
The Magnum is the first revolver to be added into AFTERSHOCK and we hope to add more in the near future. The kick on this revolver is pretty large and the fire rate isn't the fastest but the damage makes up for it.
I believe I have mentioned the idea of the Mission/Rep System in previous Development Logs. The system is currently being worked on and is still in its early stages but here is what I can discuss so far.
There is a Reputation Level in the game. Doing missions for NPCs from safe zones or from around the map in random locations will give you Reputation on completion, which in turn will increase your Reputation Level.
There are other ways for you to gain rep like killing crazies or discovering new locations for the first time (there will be more ways than just the two ways I have mentioned here).
You can also lose Reputation! This means any acts of killing friendly NPCs (outside the Safe Zones) will make you lose Reputation. We are considering how we want to go about killing players as we don’t want to make people feel bad for defending themselves or being a bandit. We will discuss this further with the community for ideas on how to go about it.
Missions are the main key to growing your Reputation, having more Reputation means more items are available to get from traders. There won’t be items that are limited to traders though.
There will be Black Market traders hidden around the map who sell certain items/gear that others don’t.
That’s all I have for this update!
Dev Update [Dom]
Hello everyone, it's me Dom with another update.
I have been working a lot with the dockside town, using the same layout as my previous city. I've now got to the point where I can work towards each house’s property and interior. Also, I plan to add a business district into this part of the city, just not sure on the layout and where to put it.
Here's an example of what the properties will look like, though some may be randomized to make them more unique. While they do have an interior, I'm still figuring out what should go inside each room.
As for the dockside itself, I’ve expand it to allow for placement of warehouses and “EVEN” more shipping containers or vehicles, not quite sure yet.
That's all I have to show for this dev-log.
Until next time
Dev Update [James]
Not much of an update in terms of new Crazies this Dev-Log. Instead, I have been looking into ways that we can improve the Crazies on a more fundamental level, while also making them have a more alive feeling. An example is to lock the perception senses to the location and rotation of the head as this will make the crazies more threatening. Currently, the perception senses are locked to the rotation of the body. This is not the best as the Crazies can be looking at you but not actually seeing you.
Something else that I have been researching is changing up the behavior and movement of the Crazies to make them feel less like a robot but more animal-like, which in turn makes focusing more accurate. Furthermore, while testing and running around with the Crazies in the level, I have noticed that they don’t sense the player through certain objects like fences, so that is something that I have planned to fix.
Dev Update [Caebyn]
I’ve been picking up the speed since last we spoke. Things have been as good as ever, especially on Instagram. We managed to pass 1000 followers on there [insert surprised face] and the last post I made has been our best performing yet [insert grinning face]. That has been something that has made my week and what makes this whole thing worth it seeing all the people loving our content we put out. Our Twitter goal is slowly but surely moving along and we appreciate everyone here who goes out and spreads the word about us.
Off we ride into the sunset now, see you next time.
P.S. we will have some exciting news to share from some members of the team sometime in the next two weeks which will be addressed in a separate post.
That brings us to the end of this AFTERSHOCK Status Report.
Thanks for reading!
