Dev Update [Sam]

Hey there everyone! 

I have some new things to share with you in this week’s Development Log.


A lot of my recent changes have been on the back end as many of our features of recent note weren't properly replicated in the network. As a result, I've spent the past two weeks sorting that out. 



I’ve been wanting to do this feature properly for a while now as I believe that this is a very important feature to have. In a very old Dev-Log, I did a WIP system that only rotated the camera but not the head and was very buggy. Now, I've done the math behind it and have got a fully working head free look. Hold alt to free look or double-tap it to keep it unlocked.



I’ve been working on this for a while but I haven't been able to share it till today, the first official Foliage pass. If you had seen Dom's past screenshots, you’d see that they have featured a plain-looking landscape with no trees. Now expect to see some more foliage and a more detailed terrain in future images after today’s Development Log.

Trees now sway in a realistic manner, unlike some games which just have leaves rustling. It took a while to get this optimized as I didn't want to have this causing any major FPS drops.



When we moved into our new Apartment we ran into some network issues, thanks to Vistagate for sorting it out for us and helping make sure we can continue to get work done! :)

Dev Update [Dom]

Hey everyone, Dom here, with another map update.

For this dev-log, I currently do not have much to show off. Right now, I'm working on stuff for the map, along with new trees and foliage so expect to see these changes in future screenshots with new changes to the ocean as well (thank you Sam).

Anyway, first off the list of stuff I’ve been working on, I have started creating custom materials to use while building templates for the houses. This is due to me wanting each house to look unique to each other and this means adding new materials for the outside of the buildings. These include wood colors, different roof tiles colors, different colors for sheet metal colors, and colors for the plaster exterior walls.


In the next screenshot, you can see my current builds and the custom materials being used to make each look unique.


As for city changes, I’ve started to plan a layout for the top of the hill. I'm planning on this being a resort of some kind so this will include making use of a gondola running up the side of the hill.

Dev Update [James]

Hello survivors.

A new dev-log comes around and that means that it is time for an update of what I have been doing. 

For the AI as a single entity, I have been doing some general clean up and optimization of the code so that it runs smoother and is easier to work with.


As for the animal AI, I have made good progress on the wolves. A major part that I have been focusing on getting right is the timing of the animations of the wolves, so that they don't look out of place and weird. Much like the crazies, I have been looking into the wolves behavior so that they can feel as real as possible without taking away to much from what they actually are.

Hello everyone this is YOUR Bi-weekly Dose of Social Media.
