Welcome Survivors to our Official AFTERSHOCK Status Report for the 21ST of JUNE 2019, we will be doing these status reports once every two weeks. This gives us enough time to gather stuff to report on.

Hope you Enjoy!

Dev Update [Sam]

Hey there everyone!

I have some new things to share with you in this week’s Development Log.

Do note that during the past two weeks, I’ve moved into a place with Dom & Aidan which has taken some time away from working on the game, apologies if my section isn’t as long as usual.

Now we have been asked for this for quite some time now and we have finally got a Female Character in the game. You can customize the skin tone, eye color and hair from the Main Menu (Will show that off in a future Dev-Log).

Shout out to HoneydewQW97 for reminding us to get this Female Character out to you all! :)

In the last Development Log, I went over the new Mission/Rep System that we have started working on. Now, I have some new updates to go over regarding the UI/UX and how the Reputation system works now!

All players will start at Zero Reputation which means that no one has an early advantage, you are all nobodies when you spawn in for the first time.

Doing NPC missions will reward you with reputation and will allow certain higher end gear to be purchasable from the NPCs. Do note that certain actions will make you lose reputation and once you go below zero, you will become a bandit of sorts which allows you to purchase items with Black Market NPCs that you couldn’t before.

Right now, I have been working on the UI for the reputation level bar which would show up at the top right of your screen. I’m focusing on making the UI as minimal as possible by making it all be located for the most part in the bottom right of your screen. This is what I’ve come up with:

Currently, going into negative reputation is a WIP so I’ll get back to you on that in a future Development Log.

That’s all I have for this update!

Dev Update [Dom]

Hey everyone, Dom here with another map update.

Today, I would like to show everyone my work on the dockyard. While not much has changed, I have swapped out the rounded area for a more square design.

While planning out the warehouses, I realized having it round look ugly and I couldn't find any layouts that work well with it being a rounded design, so I desired to go with more square design and then built three long warehouses.

From the above screenshot, you can see that I’ve expanded the dockyard and added the three long/large warehouses. At the end of the tracks for the cranes, I’ve also included one that has been derailed (I would like other people’s opinions if they like this or not).

As for the rest of the city, I have started to place down the houses, and do some interior work. You can see a example of one of the rooms below.

Now, I would like to have a couple of words to talk about our patreon or more specifically to the people who are supporting us by picking the “The Faithless” or above to support us and have submitted their picture/painting for use in-game. I have already started to make good use of them.

That's all I have to show for this DEVLOG, until next time.

Dev Update [James]

Hello Survivors.

What good would a survival game be without animals to hunt and be hunted by?

Well not a very good one in my opinion, so that is what I have been doing. I have been adding different animals, therefore giving you more options of survival and more areas for testing your skills.

Not only that,it will help make the wilderness of the game feel more alive by giving the world a more populated feeling.

The wild animals that are being implementing in so far are Wolves, Foxes, Pigs, and Deer. More wild life will be implemented in the future but this should keep me busy for now, it is also a nice change of pace compared to the Crazies.

So there will be a lot of ground AI, but what about the skies?

Well let’s just say I haven’t forgotten about that. Along with the land animals, we have some birds that I will be looking into in the near future.

As for what I have done with the Crazies since last time, I have mainly done more background work on the code. This means cleaning it up and looking for ways that I can make the code more versatile for other AI, so that I can do more by doing less. I can do less coding so that I will be able to get more done by having more animals, crazies, and even human AI. Soldiers that wander around safe zones, human NPCs that are guarding or fighting for loot, oh the possibilities that I could do.

That is all from me for now. Till next week.

Signing off.
