AFTERSHOCK Status Report - 7th December 2018


PSA: This is our last Dev-Log for 2018, most of the team are going on a holiday leave to spend time with friends and family, we recommend you do the same! Dev-Logs will resume on the 4th of January.

Welcome Survivors to our Fourth official AFTERSHOCK Status Report, we will be doing these status reports once every two weeks. This gives us enough time to gather stuff to report on.

Hello Everyone!
Map Progress is going well!

Although I didn’t get far enough to get any screenshots which are worth showing (compared to the previous screenshots of the map that we have shared).

Dev Update [Sam]

Hello Survivors!
I have been working on quite a few cool things:

  • Melee System Updates

    After asking the community/backers what they would like to see in the melee system we had these responses.

    We noticed that the thing wanted most was throwing melee weapons, we are still working on this as unlike the other features it is far more difficult to create a projectile based weapon like an Axe for example, we would want it to be perfected before we show anything off.

    But we can show you the following:

  • Shoving with Melee

  • Charge Up Attack (By holding Left Click)


One of the major things i wanted to look into was the UI/UX for the Hunger/Thirst/Stamina System.
When working on it i wanted to make sure it was easy on the eyes and didn’t take up much space on the players screen.
This is what we have so far, its a clear set of white Icons which trickle down when loosing hunger etc.

Dev Update [Aidan & Steven]

Hey Boxers, Here's an update on the Launcher.
Not too much to share in screenshots [Again :(] etc… but… progress towards making the launcher work with the API is going great, eventually we will be able to showcase this progress once we know everything is in top working condition.

Be sure to spend time with friends and family this holidays, its important to have some self reflection time as well!

Hey Boxers, Here’s an update from the Team.

As you are all aware December is here and with that comes a well deserved break, not just for us but for you!

The following members will be on holiday from the 12th to the 19th:
Sam, Grayson, Aidan, Steven, Dom.

This also means NO Dev-Log on the 21st of December (There still will be a Dev-Log this week on Friday [7th]).

The Dev-Logs will resume on the 4th of January.

Its been a very productive year for BLACKBOX and we cant wait for 2019 to see what it holds in store.

Today is the day of The Game Awards, we will be watching to see any new games announced, will you?
